On Saturday, March 9, we organized the Lithuanian Language Competition at our school.
On Saturday, the whole school flocked together with carnival masks. There was such a joyful noise that we did away with winter.
Because February 16 through March 11 has been dedicated by the Lithuanian Language Commission in Lithuania as Lithuanian Language Day, our school has also dedicated these days to the Lithuanian mother tongue.
This Saturday we were happily celebrating February 16th – the restoration of Lithuanian independence.
On February 9th all students wrote essays. This essay competition named “Lithuania in My Heart” was organized by the Lithuanian Council of the USA.
In the early morning the poetry bird flew to the school and landed. It carried the Lithuanian flag and announced that now was the time for poetry.
At school, we had our testing day. Gandriukai class students had a test: written exercises, reading, new vocabulary and the contents of the “Obuoliu maisas” cartoon.
A drawing competition of Juozas Tumas-Vaizgantas' work - "Mikutis Gamtininkas" and " Dedes ir Dedienes" - took place at school.
