February 16th - Lithuanian Restoration of Independence
This Saturday we were happily celebrating February 16th – the restoration of Lithuanian independence. We, being so far away from Lithuania, have the possibility to celebrate the most important date of our state, together with all Lithuanians of the world. We were celebrating the freedom of the Motherland – sang, recited poems and danced. Every student participated – the little ones danced, the choir and the band performed and Karolina Lickunaite gave a wonderful solo performance. Students dedicated a poem to the Motherland and warm-heartedly recited it. The youngest participant Ieva cheered us with her poem. We are especially thankful to parents who taught their kids to recite. At the event, Lithuanian diplomat Kestutis Vaskelevicius greeted the school community and gave his speech. He said: “Keeping your Lithuanian identity might sound like a usual phrase, but in real life it’s a wonderful event and something to take pride in. The Saturday schools abroad create miraculous moments and they do it from a love for Lithuania and for our kids. Thank you to the school team, music teacher Viktorija Zaboriene and dance teacher Egle Parker.” The Master of Ceremony was school parent’s council leader Erika Veberyte.
Long live Lithuania! Let Lithuanians decorate the Motherland with their works.
