Class of May 14th, 2017
The topic of this class was the poetry of Marcelijus Martinaitis and his narrator's relationship with the world, himself, the cross between the city and the nature. We briefly discussed M. Martinaitis' life, his relationship with Lithuanian culture and ethnography. We read numerous poems, discussed what a poem is, why it is important and more generally about the role of poetry. This was our last class, so we also reviewed all the poets we covered throughout throughout the year. I hope that the students found the beauty of poetry and will find some place for poems in their lives.
