Class of January 29th, 2017
The theme of this class was "Mournful and remarkable lyricism of J. Aistis" ( from "Provocations of life in the Neo-Romantic poetry"). During the class we covered J. Aistis life, his personality traits, which influenced his work, motifs of mourning, suffering and longing. We read multiple J. Aistis poems ("About the fall and the dog", "Not me", "Forrest and a lithuanian", "Landscape", "King's dog", "Simple Life", "Complaint"). We discussed how the speaker in the poems is revealed, what is his relation with nature, the passing of the time, simple things, that, which does not return...The students will have to write a short response to "What is the speaker of J. Aistis poems sad about?" before the next class.
