YOUNG LITHUANIAN MUSICIANS VISIT SCHOOL TO PERFORM “WINDOW TO LITHUANIA” PROGRAM DEDICATED TO THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RESTORATION OF LITHUANIAN INDEPENDENCE

Lithuanian School October 23, 2015 On Saturday, the school children and teachers met three young Lithuanian musicians, violinist Dalia Dėdinskaitė, cellist Gleb Pyšniak, and pianist Gintaras Januševičius. The musicians presented a chamber music program entitled, “Window to Lithuania,” consisting of a selection of musical works for violin, cello, and piano. Some of the music was written by Baroque composer Handel and other pieces were written by 20th Century Lithuanian composers. The Lithuanian artists made an emotional connection with the children, telling them vivid and amusing stories about the music, and the children found the repertoire valuable and attractive. Two of the interesting pieces were “Toboggan Hill” and “Snowman” from the piano suite “Winter Sketches,” written by Balys Dvarionas. We are very grateful for the wonderful concert, which filled us with a special energy, joy, and new emotions. We wish these charming young musicians the best of luck in introducing more listeners around the world to Lithuania’s excellent chamber music.
