Ideals, truth, love and beauty in V. Mykolaitis-Putinas poetry

The theme of our class was the search for the timeless ideals, truth, love and beauty in V. Mykolaitis-Putinas poetry. We read multiple poems by Putinas (,,Nemigos naktį“, ,,Pumpurėlis“, ,,Rudenio naktį“, ,,Rūpintojėlis“, ,,Elgeta“, ,,Ištikimybė“) and tried to recognize his signature “time between two dawns” and the poem’s narrator’s emotions: pain, longing, solitude, eternal personal struggle with oneself, yearning for love and beauty. We looked for poetic tools that were used to create the poem’s atmosphere. We also reviewed writers we had covered in the past, K.Donelaitis, A. Baranauskas, Maironis. We finished the class reading a poem with holiday spirit - ,,Ištikimybė“.
