A Cheerful Celebration of February 16 at the School
We performed our National Anthem and together with the school community and our dear visitors Lyra Puišytė-Bostroem, advisor to the Lithuanian Ambassador to the United States, and Skaistė Rojutė, the Chairperson of the Washington, DC, Lithuanian-American Community.
The program of the concert included recitations of verses about the Motherland (by 9th grader Gertrūda ) and the singing of many songs in a cheerful atmosphere, embracing the Lithuanian President’s call to “Celebrate February 16 joyfully and inventively.” We lined up in the hallway and using yellow, green, and red balloons wrote the name of LIETUVA as follows: “LIE” on yellow balloons, “TU” on green balloons, and “VA” on red balloons. We also tried to put together stripes of the Lithuanian national flag. It was quite fun! Happy Birthday, Lithuania!
