School parents’ general meeting

A general meeting of parents was held this Saturday.  The meeting emphasized the role of parents and teachers in developing each child’s sense of national identity.  We discussed the forms of communication in an effective learning organization.  M. Fullan was quoted as saying that “the more that parents are involved with their child's education, the more they can influence his achievements.”

The meeting reviewed the school’s projects and values and the modern education approaches toward integrated, differentiated, and individualized teaching.  We introduced the parents to the new “Amber Beads” project, in which individual students are awarded amber beads for doing good works.  At the end of the school year, we will see how many amber beads each child has accumulated for their good deeds.

We were pleased to see the publication of the first edition of the school newspaper, “Atžalynas” [“Saplings”].

We expressed the hope that everyone in the school community will take pride in our school.
